When Mystic Restaurant opened in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the goal was to create a space that felt as elevated as the food. Clean lines, rich textures, and immersive lighting were all part of the vision—and Foamcore Architectural Elements was brought in to execute two major design features: a custom seamless ceiling and faux wood architectural cladding in the private bar area.
A Seamless Coved Ceiling with Integrated Perimeter Lighting
Foamcore designed and fabricated a completely smooth coved ceiling system, which gently curves into the restaurant walls—eliminating hard edges and visual clutter. The result is a continuous, flowing overhead surface that quietly commands attention.
What sets the ceiling apart is the integrated LED perimeter lighting. Rather than using overhead spotlights or recessed fixtures, the lighting is built into the edges of the cove, casting a warm, even glow across the space. It’s subtle, modern, and gives the entire dining area a refined, upscale feel.
There are no seams, no visible transitions, and no off-the-shelf components. Every section was custom-fabricated, pre-finished, and delivered ready for a fast, clean install.
Faux Wood NexaClad Adds Warmth to Mystic’s Private Bar
In addition to the ceiling, Mystic’s team also selected Foamcore’s NexaClad faux wood system to finish the walls of their private bar. Designed to offer the look of real wood with none of the drawbacks, NexaClad is lightweight, durable, and completely weather-resistant—ideal for both interior and exterior applications.
